Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic said the NATO Summit will be successful and Croatia will win the 2018 World Cup final, during her arrival at the second of the NATO Summit in Brussels on Thursday.
Grabar-Kitarovic said she and her colleagues followed the Croatia-England semi-final over dinner on Wednesday. "The atmosphere was wonderful, because all the allies were cheering for all of us mostly. It's good that actually four teams from the allies are in the finals."
Regarding the upcoming meeting between US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, Grabar-Kitarovic hoped both could find a "common language." And the meeting is also important for "southeastern Europe to keep security and stability," she said.
European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker meanwhile said he hoped that Trump and Putin will "move forward" through dialogue.
The NATO representatives are also "moving forward," as the first day of the Summit went well, French President Emmanuel Macron stated. The leaders will continue "in a calmer atmosphere than what is being said and with a strong will to maintain NATO's unity."
